She is recognized as a champion performer of Ladhei Pala (competitive balladry) and a key preserver of Odia devotional traditions.

Born in Nirakarpur, Puri district, Samantaray was raised in the cultural heartland of Odisha. She received rigorous training in literature, spirituality, culture, and music. Her education enables her to seamlessly blend Puranic stories with complex Odia musical arrangements.

Samantaray leads a well-known traditional Pala troupe, frequently accompanied by Bayak Sudarshan Sahoo and Sri Palia Prakash Nayak.
